Come on, think about it, how many of you love to visit websites that have free articles which you can read without having to pay a single cent? I'm sure most of you would be raising your hands!
Free articles are, undoubtedly, a great way to get a lot of people to visit your website and retain their traffic. Therefore, make sure you stick to the following points when writing articles:
1. Be familiar with your readers
We write articles so that they will be of interest to other people. Therefore, make sure you give some thought to what your readers will be interested in, and make sure your articles are focused on such matters. Get to know about what they like and dislike. To do this, put up some surveys on your site inquiring about their areas of interest.
2. It's not going to be easy!
A big misconception that people have regarding writing is that it's very easy thing to do, but I highly doubt that journalists and writers around the world will agree with you. More-so, if you write to earn, it makes it all the more difficult. Most great literature writers have received recognition after their death, so it should give you a fair idea of what I'm trying to say here.
3. Don't flaunt your knowledge
Often, many to-be-writers think that using all sorts of complex words will make their articles look very nice, but, in fact it only serves to alienate your readers. Therefore, make sure that you let someone read your article and see if he/she understands it. Just remember that the hallmark of a good writer is his/her ability to present the most complex matter in the easiest and simplest manner possible.
4. Polish up your spelling
Most word processors like MS Word or Open Office always do a great work when it comes to checking your spelling and grammatical mistakes. You can also get your spellings checked at www.dictionary.com. However, if you really want to see an improvement in your grammar, make sure you spend at least 30 minutes every day studying your English grammar.
5. Title
Most of the time, you often find yourself reading an article just because the title has managed to catch your imagination. Yes, finding a good title for your article is half the job done. Therefore, make it a point to read the newspapers regularly as they are the masters at good captions. Just remember that it takes some time to develop the ability to create good titles. Also remember though, don't get too obsessed with your title!
